Amuse Bouche “Vin Perdue” Red Blend, Napa Valley, 2017

Antonio Galloni’s Vinous 93pts: “Proprietor John Schwartz believes California is capable of making wines that can stand toe to toe with the best of France, so he is setting out to prove that point with the help of winemaker Heidi Barrett. Amuse Bouche is the main label. Vin Perdu is the second wine of Amuse Bouche, but the blend varies considerably from year to year, which naturally results in wines that are quite different from each other across several vintages. The 2017 Vin Perdu is racy and voluptuous, not to mention incredibly delicious. Succulent red cherry, rose petal, mocha, plum and spice are all given an extra kick of textural richness in the 2017, a wine that benefits from the addition of fruit that would have gone into some of the higher end wines in a more typical vintage. Plush, opulent and creamy, the 2017 is an absolutely joyous wine to enjoy over the next decade or so. Drink 2020-2029.”

James Suckling 93ts: “A pure and fruity red with lovely raspberries and dark chocolate. Medium to full body, round and fine tannins and flavorful finish. Drink now or hold. ”

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate 92pts: “ Deep garnet-purple in color, it needs a little coaxing to reveal notes of plum preserves, crème de cassis and Black Forest cake with underlying hints of candied violets, forest floor, cigar box and bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with black fruits and savory layers, framed by firm, grainy tannins and bright freshness, finishing long. Drink 2020-2034.”

In 2002, Heidi partnered with longtime friend John Schwartz to create Amuse Bouche, a Pomerol-inspired Merlot from Napa Valley. Recognizing that the cult wine phenomenon has created an almost aspirational class structure among collectors, the partners decided to make this limited edition wine available to a much broader consumer base. Winemaker Heidi Barrett explains, “We have created Amuse Bouche, a limited edition, superb Pomerol style wine with the added value of limited edition art that is available to consumers through a variety of channels.”

The Vin Perdu Bordeaux-blend is masterfully composed by Winemaker Heidi Barrett. Each label features our patented flip lenticular label and our unique storytelling with each new vintage.

This is your opportunity to secure an allocation of our best value, most mind-altering wine from our Napa Valley estates. Every year the blend changes. The Vin Perdu 2017 Bordeaux-blend is masterfully composed by Winemaker Heidi Barrett to include: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petite Verdot, and Syrah from the La Sirena, Amuse Bouche, and Fantesca vineyards. Vin Perdu continues to garner remarkable ratings for a second label wine.
