Subdued aromas suggesting yellow spring flower and pear shape the delicate nose. The palate is straightforward and crisp, offering grapefruit and pineapple before a bitter almond close.

Tradition for Claudio Quarta also translates into the rediscovery of the taste of the past. Thus was born the idea of continuing an ancient production already existing in the small cellar taken over in Guagnano. They are the “ANTICA MASSERIA DEL SIGILLO” wines, with a clear traditional imprint, already known and appreciated by the foreign market, and American in particular, which continue to live thanks to the grapes of the Tenute Eméra and Sanpaolo vineyards and to the traditional production techniques. Like the Primitivo di Manduria Antica Masseria del Sigillo, Top 100 Wine Spectator 2016, now vinified in Eméra in cement tanks, just as it used to be.

Tradition and innovation, therefore history and future, recovery of the roots and a look projected to modernity: it is on this continuous dialogue between yesterday and today that the production philosophy of Claudio Quarta is nourished, which is clearly perceived by crossing the threshold of its three cellars, Moros in Guagnano (Lecce), Tenute Eméra in Lizzano (Taranto), Sanpaolo in Torrioni (Avellino). Three wineries, three different territories, one goal: to produce wines capable of “telling” the South that excites. Respect for traditions and propensity for the future represent the compass of Claudio Quarta Vignaiolo in his project of reinterpreting wine excellence, with a fixed gaze on Research and Sustainability. The wine history of Claudio Quarta began in 2005, with the decision to abandon his lab coat and a brilliant career as a researcher and pharmaceutical entrepreneur, to wear the role of the winemaker.

The Claudio Quarta at CANTINA SANPAOLO vineyard is composed of small plots for a total of about 22 hectares: 10 extend around the cellar, divided between the areas of Tufo – where the precious Greco – of Lapio is grown – in the heart of the Docg Fiano d’Avellino for the breeding of Fiano – and Paternopoli, for the cultivation of Aglianico, in the Dop Irpinia Aglianico and Docg Taurasi. The other 12 hectares, cultivated in Falanghina and Aglianico, constitute a single estate located in Pietrelcina, in the Benevento area.
