Pride Mountain Vineyards, Napa & Sonoma County, Merlot, 2015
Tasting Notes: The 2015 Merlot offers incredibly expressive aromas of strawberry, blueberry and plum, which carry through into a round, luscious palate full of bright berry and lollipop fruit notes. The finish is lengthy yet integrated, with plenty of tannin that is rich, ripe and velvety on the palate.
Jeb Dunnuck 90/00: The 2015 Merlot is similar to the 2014, only slightly riper, more supple and easy going. Black cherries, black raspberries, toasted spice, graphite and earth all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, nicely textured, balanced, incredibly charming 2015 that will last for a decade.
Food Pairing: Lamb with Merlot is an ideal match—the sweetness of the meat picks up on the sweet fruit flavors of the wine to create a harmonious balance. Merlot’s gentle tannins allow for a hint of spice and its medium weight and bright acidity permit the possibilities of simple pizza or pasta with red sauce—overall, an extremely versatile food wine.
