Along with the autochthonous Friulian varietals, Sauvignon Blanc has become one of the most prevalent, and appreciated, white grapes in the region, included in the Collio Bianco blends or vinified “in purezza” (in purity), as in the case of the Vigna del Lauro Sauvignon. Upon tasting, notes of white pepper and green paprika are integrated into a fruity display of crabapples and pears. A refreshingly light to medium body and finely tuned acidity conclude in a satisfying and attractive finish.
About: Vigna del Lauro is a series of single vineyard sites nestled primarily in the heart of Collio in the commune of Cormons. Vines are planted with southerly exposures at altitudes ranging from 140 to 200 meters above sea level. Production of Vigna del Lauro wines rarely exceeds 6,000 cases.
In addition to the flagship brand Ronco dei Tassi, the Estate produces the unique label Vigna del Lauro. With Fabio Coser at the helm, Vigna del Lauro is a gem of a winery comprised of a series of small single-vineyard sites nestled primarily in the heart of the Collio, in the township of Cormòns. Vines are planted with ideal southern exposures at altitudes ranging from 140 to 200 meters (459-656 feet) above sea level. A wide variety of wines are produced, focusing on both typical Friulian and international grape varieties, though total production of these Collio and Isonzo DOC wines is miniscule and rarely exceeds 6,000 cases.
