Zorzal Terroir Unico Tupungato Malbec 2019

Tasting Notes: Deep, shining red color. Very mineral on the nose, with strong evidence of calcareous soils, such as chalk. Very fresh on entry, with great volume and texture. The tannins are somewhat edgy and the finish is a long one.

James Suckling 91/00: Big morello cherry and blueberry fruit as well as hints of earth and spices (and restrained oak!). Moderately tannic. A clean finish. Rather fascinating.

Food Pairing: Malbec’s rustic character begs for flavorful dishes, like spicy grilled sausages or the classic cassoulet of France’s Southwest. South American iterations are best enjoyed as they would be in Argentina: with a thick, juicy steak.
